Mission Statement

As Ministers and members of the Mount Vernon Heights Congregational Church, our mission is to lift up Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior and to help further the building of the Kingdom of God through love, understanding, healing, teaching and preaching.

The Old Testament tells us that, “thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might”. Deuteronomy 6:5

We strive to adhere to the teaching of the New Testament of the “Great Commission” from Jesus Christ in Matthew 28:19-20 as stated: “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world”.

We are admonished by scripture as the powerful words of Jesus Christ proclaimed: The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, to preach the acceptable year of the Lord. Luke 4:18

We are mandated to reach out to every creature on God’s great earth. We are required to, “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned”. Mark 16: 15-16

Our mission is to love, to teach, to heal, and to preach the gospel so that God, who draws souls unto His saving grace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
